Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at reception@m1physio.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

At your first appointment, your physiotherapist will welcome you into a comfortable, private treatment space where you can openly share your story, your concerns, and what’s most important to you.

We’ll take the time to complete a thorough assessment of your movement, strength, and lifestyle factors. Your physiotherapist will talk you through the findings in a clear, easy-to-understand way and discuss a working diagnosis. Together, you’ll create a personalised plan that supports your recovery and aligns with your goals.

Your plan may include a blend of education, hands-on treatment, movement strategies, exercise therapy, and a tailored home exercise program—delivered through our complimentary mobile app for M1 clients.

We kindly ask that you provide at least 2 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend your appointment. This allows us to offer the appointment time to someone on our waiting list.

If an appointment is missed, or if adequate notice is not provided, a late cancellation or non-attendance administration fee of $30 will apply. Please note that late cancellation and non-attendance fees are not covered by insurance and remain the responsibility of the client.

No referral is needed to see one of our physiotherapists—everyone is welcome at M1 Physio.
If you do have a doctor’s referral or any medical documents, feel free to bring them along to your first appointment. They can help us understand your history, keep communication clear, and ensure your care is well-coordinated.

A care plan is a tailored treatment plan created by your GP to support your ongoing health needs. It outlines your health goals, the treatments or services that can help you reach them, and the providers involved in your care—such as your physiotherapist.

If your GP has referred you for physiotherapy under a care plan, it means you’re eligible for a set number of subsidised sessions through Medicare. These sessions allow you to receive focused, collaborative care aimed at improving your mobility, reducing pain, and helping you get back to the activities you love.

Our role as your physiotherapy team is to work closely with you and your GP to ensure you get the most out of each session. We’ll guide you through your exercises, track your progress, and keep your GP updated so your care stays coordinated and effective.

If you have any questions about your care plan or how it works, just let us know— we’re here to help!

Yes! We happily accept Worker’s Compensation, DVA, Motor Vehicle Insurance (ICWA) and Medicare Care Plan referrals.
To help us make your visit smooth and stress-free, please bring the information relevant to your funding type:

Workers Compensation (WorkCover)

Please bring your approved claim number, GP referral, employer details and your case manager’s contact information.
If your claim is approved, there are no out-of-pocket costs for your sessions.

Medicare Care Plans

We do accept Medicare Care Plans.
Please bring your GP care plan along to your appointment. These sessions are not bulk billed, so an out-of-pocket fee applies. You simply pay in full on the day, and Medicare will reimburse your rebate directly to you.

Motor Vehicle Accident Claims (ICWA)

Please bring your approved claim number, GP referral and your case manager’s contact details.
If your claim is approved, you won’t have any out-of-pocket expenses.

DVA (Department of Veterans’ Affairs)

Please bring your GP referral and your DVA Gold or White card.
DVA-funded physiotherapy has no out-of-pocket costs.

Most private health extras policies include physiotherapy, but your rebate will depend on your individual cover.
For your convenience, we offer HICAPS in-clinic, so you can claim your rebate instantly after your session. Just remember to bring your private health card (or digital card) with you.

Physiotherapy focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions through a range of techniques, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education. Chiropractic care is a complementary health care profession that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine, through manipulation and adjustment. While there is some overlap between the two professions, physiotherapy is generally considered to be a broader field of practice.

Yes, physiotherapy can be an effective treatment for chronic pain. Your physiotherapist will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include a combination of manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education on pain management techniques.

The frequency of your appointments will depend on the nature of your condition and your individual needs. Your physiotherapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that takes into account your goals and expectations.

Wear something comfortable that allows us to easily assess and treat the area of concern.
For lower limb injuries, shorts that allow free movement are ideal. For neck or shoulder concerns, a singlet or top that exposes the area works best. If you need to get changed when you arrive, we have private changing facilities available.

If you had a great experience at M1 Physio, we’d truly love to hear about it—your feedback genuinely makes our day!
